My journey to health began on my 39th birthday in August 2017. Despite an incredible journey with my family, a dream job and a world of opportunity, I was not happy. I woke up as I had every day for at least 10 years: back pain, joint pain and a deep disdain for myself. Even though I had been a free Beachbody member for more than a year, even though I had made an effort at foodprep in 2016 and even though I was following Manon on Facebook, I was not ready to take care of myself. It was on August 12, 2017 that I hit rock bottom and told myself that I didn’t want to feel like this on my 40th birthday.
I contacted Noella Gauthier and Manon Campeau Dass to ask them about Beachbody. I told them my truths: gym was not for me and I wasn’t going to be active on social media. They supported me, answered my thousand and one questions and together we decided that I would start my journey to health on August 28, 2017.
I decided to take myself to the extreme: first foodprep on August 27th and 21 Day Fix training the next day at 5am – first day of the new school year (I am a teacher). If I was going to be successful, I knew I had to force myself to make a change in the most stressful times. I imposed a morning workout routine on myself because I know I’m tired in the afternoon (and I would skip my workouts). I have also imposed a foodprep on Sundays because when I’m not prepared, I turn to junk food and make bad food choices. I know myself too well!
I had a lot of trouble with the workouts in the first few weeks. I hadn’t been active for over 10 years! I’ve changed a lot of movements and I always encouraged myself by telling myself that at least I was moving!
I incorporated Shakeology into my daily routine right from the start. It was the perfect lunch for a busy girl who is often in her car. After only a week, I knew I was going to be drinking Shakeo for a long time. Not only is it delicious (I love vegan chocolate) but it controls my cravings for sweets and junk food while giving me a good energy boost with its high protein content. I became a discount coach in order to save on my monthly order.
I did 2 rounds of 21 Day Fix and one week of Clean Week. I lost 20lbs! It’s hard not to be motivated! I then decided to take the plunge and follow the group with Hammer and Chisel. Everything changed thanks to my participation in the challenge group (via the My Challenge Tracker application). I felt it was my responsibility to show my progress and encourage others. I found myself wanting to share on social media! I also discovered a love for bodybuilding and Sagi! Who would have thought that lifting weights could help us lose weight?
After 8 weeks of H&C and 22lbs less (total of 42lbs), I decided to redo 21 Day Fix but the Extreme version. I then redid a week of Clean Week and the 5 days of A Little Obsessed. That’s when a friend asked me to be her coach and I started coaching with Beachbody. I was able to experience the wellness circle at its best: I move, I motivate you to move, you move, and you motivate me to move!
At the same time, I decided to make a BIG jump and embark on the 80 Day Obsession program. This intermediate-advanced training program (40 to 60 minutes of training per day, 6 days a week and a chrononutrition plan) changed everything! Even though the scales didn’t move much, my body changed drastically, my mentality changed, and I proved to myself that I could do anything with determination.
From April to July I did a mix of the PiYO, T25 and Body Beast programs. I also started LIIFT4 in mid-July and am having fun completing the program with my husband. I started training for a 5km race and completed a few events. As of September 30th, I started training for the 10km in May 2019! I have found the pleasure of moving again!
With the summer and the vacations, the 2B Mindset nutrition program has been perfect to give me the tools I need to make good food choices while being flexible. Since the beginning of May, I have lost another 25lbs by not calculating my portions and not measuring everything!
I have never felt better and I am still surprised to be looking forward to training in the morning. I have found the winning formula and I am motivated to face my 40’s! Yes, I have lost 103lbs, but more importantly, I feel good, I finally have control over my life, I have the desire (and ability) to bite into every moment and most of all, I have regained my self-confidence! Thank you Manon for believing in me!
